It has been a long day of working on orders, making samples, loading pictures of my samples onto my website, and working on my website. I decided to take a break and make some apple pie muffins. Since I can't crochet while eating, sorry I am not THAT amazing (yet), I decided to share how CGFTH came to be.
I learned how to crochet, and sew, and scrapbook, etc. when I was a kid, and have been doing it off and on since then. I have always enjoyed making handmade gifts for those I care about, and each time tell myself that I am going to make time to do it on a regular basis. But then life happens, I am sure you know how it is, we say we are going to do something but there are never enough hours in the day or when there is time, zoning out on Netflix sounds way better, I can't lie, This Is Us has me hooked!
Recently I was in a bad accident that left me unable to work and struggling to do most things. In the beginning I spent most of my time at the doctors, feeling sorry for myself, working on Christmas gifts and zoning out on Netflix, I think I watched every Christmas movie on there. But once Christmas came and went, and I gave these gifts to their recipients I was not only very proud of my work but their appreciation and awe got me to thinking. What reason did I now have to not make this a regular thing, and why couldn't I share my work with others? I couldn't come up with any reason besides the usual self doubt and insecurity that most of us feel when we are putting a piece of ourselves into something and then sharing it with others who are going to judge what you do (good or bad).
I started with a Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/Cozy-Gifts-from-the-Heart-208418933445572/, but then decided a website might reach more people. At first the store only offered a few items, blankets and lapghans, but then as my excitement about actually doing this grew, so did the store. Now I offer blankets, lapghans, scarves, beanies, potholders and dish cloths, with more to come I am sure.
So Cozy Gifts From the Heart was born, and has amazed me with the orders that I have already gotten.
P.S. Yes the muffin did taste good!
